The Pekingese – The Lion Dog of China
1906 – The Pekingese was officially recognized by the AKC
According to the AKC,
The Pekingese is a well-balanced, compact dog of Chinese origin with a heavy front and lighter hindquarters. Its temperament is one of directness, independence and individuality. Its image is lionlike, implying courage, dignity, boldness and self-esteem rather than daintiness or delicacy.
For 140 years Pekingese have been one of the healthiest of all breeds, as they are today.
We absolutely love our fur baby. He is so sweet and gentle with our family. BUT also very protective of us. His fur is super soft and manages to keep himself VERY clean. Love him to pieces!
